We wanted to make our family Christmas Tree this year out of K'NEX. Do you think this is possible, and do you have any suggestions?
(Rachael, age 21, female)

Rachael, yes its definitely possible. First you create a frame that uses a similar cube like pattern as our roller coasters that resembles the overall end shape of the model. So a xmas tree would need a stretched out pyramid. You can use the green 4 connectors and cross snap them onto various rods to create the branches.

I want to make a car from K'NEX but I can't find a way to do the steering can you help me?
(Matt, age 11, male)

You should check out Jason's Tip on Steering Mechanisms in our Video Building Tips section. This video gives great pointers!

How long does it take to build giant buildings?
(Zakariyah, age 9, male)

Zakariyah, the amount of time it takes to create a giant build depends on a lot of different things. It depends on whether it is made of regular K'NEX, micro K'NEX, Kid K'NEX, or Bricks. It depends on the size of the build and the amount of detail. Some take a few days (like a bunny) and some take a month (like the empire state building).

I really want a challenge but I can't find any good ideas.
(Mike, age 11, male )

Mike, The first thing you may want to do, is exactly what we do here at knex, think about things you like such as cars trucks or roller coasters. Then think about how you can make it cool by making it really awesome looking or having it move. Or you can go through old instruction books and try to redesign those models. You could make them cooler by adding a motor or making them bigger or more realistic.
