Model: Belly of the Beast
The idea for my model developed over several weeks. My original idea was to build a big dragon with a rollercoaster which gets eaten as it reaches the top. I thought of this while watching the movie Eragon. More...
I started by making the head, using a picture from the movie. At first, I made the head into a mask that I could wear. It would have made an awesome Halloween mask! Then, I completed the body, but decided to make it into a beast, somewhat like Godzilla. Finally, I turned it into a rollercoaster. I worked on my creation on and off for about a month. To build it, I used one Screamin' Serpent, two Rippin' Rocket sets, three Vertical Vengeance sets, one Loopin' Lizard, and other miscellaneous parts. I used about 6,500 parts.
It wasn't easy to build, that's for sure. My creature fell over twice when the legs snapped in half. I had to put monster-truck wheels and other wheels into the tail to weight the tail down. After a while, I found out that the arms were too heavy for the motors to lift, so I had to redesign them. I also had to redesign the jaws to let the rollercoaster cars enter the mouth. When it was finished, I had to move my rollercoaster and monster a bunch of times. It was hard to build, but I loved doing it!
